Meet Keith Kennedy

Keith Kennedy is the founder and operator of Tribal Expression and one of Canada's most experienced professional body piercers. With over 33 years of hands-on piercing experience, decades of work in sterilization, body modification, scarification, branding, and suspension, Keith has helped raise the standard for what professional piercing should look like. Understand how unique this experience is, work under some other best piercers, learn from the best.

Keith has participated in creating federal health guidelines for professional piercers with Health Canada and has regularly collaborated with Alberta Health Services on piercing, branding, scarification, and education.

On The Piercing Apprentice, Keith is not looking for someone who just wants camera time. He is looking for someone who can listen, learn, clean, study, handle pressure, respect safety, and represent Tribal Expression properly.

Two Apprentices. One Rare Opening.

From the applicant pool, Tribal Expression will be selecting two new apprentices. Applicants may also be considered for filmed challenges, interviews, contestant selection, and production opportunities connected to The Piercing Apprentice Season One.

A professional piercing apprenticeship is not something most people can simply buy or talk their way into. You have to earn trust. You have to listen. You have to clean. You have to study. You have to respect the client, the studio, the jewelry, the anatomy, the tools, the sterilization process, and the responsibility that comes with the needle.

"A real apprenticeship in piercing is not something most people can buy, fake, or talk their way into. You have to earn trust before you earn the needle."

A paid apprenticeship pathway is rare in this industry. That is why Season One matters.

A Rare Opening Into A World-Class Apprenticeship

A real apprenticeship in professional body piercing is incredibly rare. A paid apprenticeship connected to Tribal Expression, under the direction of Keith Kennedy, is even rarer.

Most people who dream about becoming piercers never get a proper doorway into the industry. They get told to wait. They get told to know someone. They get pointed toward shortcuts, weekend courses, bad habits, or unsafe information online. But professional piercing is not something you fake your way into. It is built through mentorship, discipline, repetition, safety, sterilization, client trust, and years of hands-on learning.

That is what makes The Piercing Apprentice Season One different.

This is not just a casting call. This is a rare opportunity to step inside Tribal Expression, one of Canada's respected professional piercing environments, and be considered for one of two apprenticeship positions connected to the studio.

Applicants selected through this process are not just applying to be on camera. They are applying for the chance to learn inside a real studio culture, under real expectations, around experienced professionals who understand what it takes to do this work safely, respectfully, and correctly.

This means learning from Keith Kennedy, working around some of the strongest piercers connected to Tribal Expression, seeing how a professional studio actually operates, and understanding the difference between wanting to be a piercer and becoming someone a client can trust.

This opportunity is rare because real apprenticeships are rare. Paid apprenticeships are rarer. Apprenticeships connected to a studio with decades of experience, public accountability, high sterilization standards, professional jewelry standards, and a filmed national-facing platform are almost unheard of.

This is not a shortcut into the industry. This is the hard road — but with the right door finally open.

The Piercing Apprentice is looking for people who can be trained, corrected, challenged, filmed, pushed, humbled, and still keep showing up. We are looking for people who understand that before you earn the needle, you earn trust.

If you are chosen, you are not just stepping into a show. You are stepping into a legacy.

Why This Opportunity Is So Rare

A world-class piercing apprenticeship is not something most people ever get access to. Here is what makes this different.

Real Apprenticeships Are Hard To Find

Professional piercing is not something you properly learn from a weekend course, a few internet videos, or unsafe shortcuts. Real mentorship is rare, and access to the right mentor matters.

Paid Training Is Even Rarer

Many people entering body art industries have historically faced unpaid, informal, or unclear training paths. A paid apprenticeship pathway connected to a serious studio is a much more meaningful opportunity.

Tribal Expression Has Decades Behind It

This is not a brand-new shop trying to create hype. Tribal Expression has a long history in professional body piercing, client care, sterilization, body jewelry, and public education.

Keith Kennedy Brings Over 33 Years

Keith Kennedy is the founder and operator of Tribal Expression and one of Canada's most experienced professional body piercers, with decades of hands-on experience in piercing, sterilization, body modification, scarification, branding, and suspension.

You Learn Around Professionals

Selected applicants may be exposed to a real studio environment and work around experienced piercers who understand the responsibility, discipline, and standards required to do this properly.

This Is A Legacy Opportunity

This is not only about appearing on a show. It is about proving whether you are worth investing in, training, correcting, and bringing into a professional legacy.

Learn Around The Best

The Piercing Apprentice is built around access — access to a real studio, real standards, real correction, real pressure, and real mentorship.

Selected applicants may have the opportunity to learn under Keith Kennedy, work around some of the strongest piercers connected to Tribal Expression, and see how a serious professional piercing environment operates behind the scenes.

That means watching how trust is built before a client ever sits down. It means understanding sterilization before technique. It means learning why professionalism matters when nobody is clapping, filming, or giving you credit.

Anyone can say they want to be a piercer. This process is designed to find out who is actually worth training.

This Industry Is Hard To Break Into

Body piercing is often misunderstood from the outside. It is not just attitude, fashion, or liking jewelry. It is a professional trade built on precision, safety, trust, sterilization, anatomy, jewelry knowledge, bedside manner, and years of discipline.

"This is not just a casting call. This is a test of whether you can be trained, trusted, filmed, corrected, challenged, and still keep showing up."

Your One-Minute Video

Every applicant must upload a one-minute casting video explaining why they should be chosen. Be creative. Be honest. Be memorable.

"This is your first challenge. The camera is already rolling."

Audience Support Voting

Once an applicant completes their application and uploads their one-minute video, production may approve a public support page. Approved applicants receive an official media package with their support link, QR code, and approved sharing language.

"Can you rally people without embarrassing yourself or the studio?"

Audience Support Voting

Once an applicant completes their application and uploads their one-minute video, production may approve a public support page. Approved applicants receive an official media package with their support link, QR code, and approved sharing language so supporters can vote through the official website.

Friends, family, clients, followers, and supporters can visit the page and click to support the applicant. This helps Tribal Expression Productions see who can rally people, communicate clearly, and create momentum. But this is not most-votes-wins. Public votes do not guarantee selection. Final decisions are made by production.

"Public support may get our attention. It does not make the final decision."

"Can you rally people without embarrassing yourself or the studio?"

Votes matter. Character matters more. This is not most-votes-wins.

What Contestants Should Expect

We will not reveal the challenges. We will tell you what kind of person they are designed to find.

This is not a test of who can follow instructions. This is a test of who can think, create, adapt, and work with people under pressure.

Creative Design

Contestants may be asked to design jewelry combinations, curate aesthetic looks, and think like an artist while respecting anatomy and safety.

Problem-Solving Under Pressure

Expect scenarios where the plan changes, the clock is ticking, and you have to think on your feet without panicking or freezing.

Teamwork & Collaboration

Contestants may work in pairs or groups — building trust, communicating clearly, and lifting each other up instead of tearing each other down.

Client Connection

Reading people, building rapport, making nervous clients feel safe, and communicating with warmth, confidence, and authenticity.

Quick Thinking & Adaptation

Absorbing new information fast, applying it in real time, and pivoting creatively when a challenge takes an unexpected turn.

Pitching & Presentation

Explaining your ideas, defending your creative choices, and telling a compelling story about your work and your vision.

Taking Feedback Like a Pro

Hearing correction, iterating on the spot, and showing you can grow and improve without ego getting in the way.

Creative Judgment

Making real-time calls about what looks right, what feels safe, and what serves the client — balancing artistry with responsibility.

"No applicant should assume they will be allowed to perform procedures on clients simply because they are on the show. Any hands-on technical activity, if any, must be supervised, safety-led, and governed by Tribal Expression standards and applicable rules."

"We are not publishing the actual challenges, eliminations, scoring twists, or production format. The point is to see how applicants respond in real time."
